About Me

Who is

Walter Taylor

At seventeen years old, Walter left Texas to join a monastery as a way to escape war and loss. After completing thirty years as a monk working eighteen-hour days in dedicated service, not recognizing the intense abuses that had become a part of his everyday life, he was finally extracted. Now in California, Walter managed a yoga studio, became a certified hypnotherapist, and started college at the age of 56 years old. Due to his extreme intelligence and work ethic, he had no trouble completing both undergraduate and graduate degrees and starting a private practice in less than 5 years, all the while working as an apartment manager, handyman, babysitter, yoga teacher, and bookkeeper to make ends meet. Walter started out seeing clients through the California Victims of Crime program in 2015 and since then trauma survivors have continued to find refuge and restoration by working with him. Many refer to him as "the therapist who helped me when no one else could." Since COVID hit in 2020, Walter has been booked 7 days a week to meet the overwhelming need for mental health services. In 2023, he returned home to his Texas roots. Walter is now serving the Humble community as both a therapist and a supervisor in order to pass on the wisdom he has learned in the healing arts.
